A multitude of plants and flowers grow in the Alps, both in the valleys and in the high alpine meadows. A known alpine plant is the glacier crowfoot which keeps the absolute height record among the flowering plants and even grows at heights of 4200 meters. Small groups of alpine plants grow at heights of 2800 meters. The famous edelweiss can be found in about the same area.
