Description

This fish was painted by Kawahara Keiga. He travelled with researcher Philipp Franz von Siebold through Japan from 1823 to 1829. Von Siebold collected many cultutal and natural historic objects from Japan which was during that time impenetrable for the West. The illustrations of Keiga are not only beautiful, but also very detailed. Therefore, they are of great scientific importance for the research on biology.
