Description

Marcus Elieser Bloch (1723-1799) was a physician, naturalist and ichthyologist. He was the best-known expert in the field of fish fauna from the 18th century.
His most important work is the Allgemeine Naturgeschichte der Fische (general natural history of the fish) that appeared in 12 parts between 1782 and 1795. From the copper engravings included in these works, we have selected and combined 18 of the most beautiful images.
